100 fuel cell buses were delivered to Zhengzhou, 1,300 FCEVs are in operation
Industry newsThe Zhengzhou government proudly disclosed that the city currently operates a fleet of 423 FCEV buses, accumulating an impressive 43 million kilometers in operational mileage and contributing to a substantial reduction of 45,852 tons of CO2 emissions. As the capital city of Henan province, Zhengzhou boasts a population of 12.83 million and a 2022 GDP per capita of Rmb 10,089 ($1,407).
Positioned as the central hub of the Henan Hydrogen Demonstration City Cluster, Zhengzhou is part of the inaugural batch of five hydrogen demonstration city clusters outlined in China's national hydrogen strategy for 2021-2025. The other four clusters include Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, and Hebei.
In alignment with the broader goals of the Henan city cluster, which aims to deploy 5,000 FCEVs by 2025, Zhengzhou has made significant strides, with 1,300 FCEVs already in operation within the city. Demonstrating a commitment to hydrogen infrastructure development, the Zhengzhou government has established 19 hydrogen refueling stations, with plans to increase the count to 30 by the end of 2023 and an ambitious target of 100 by 2025.
Beyond the impressive fleet of hydrogen buses, Zhengzhou has earned distinction by operating the largest fleet of environmental management FCEVs in China, featuring a diverse array of deployed hydrogen fuel cell models.
