ATOME (AIM: ATOM), a global leader in low-carbon fertiliser development and the UK’s only company dedicated to large-scale international low-carbon fertiliser production, has announced that it has signed the debt financing agreements (“the Definitives”) with its lenders for a total US$420 million debt package. The financing supports the US$650 million Villeta project in Paraguay—a landmark low-carbon fertiliser facility designed to produce 260,000 tonnes per year.

The agreements were signed during the Inter-American Development Bank Group’s (“IDB Group”) Annual Meetings in Asunción, Paraguay, on 12 March 2026—the first time the country has hosted the meetings since 2017. These Definitives formalize the structure and debt financing for the US$650 million project. Access to the committed debt funding remains contingent on ATOME and the Equity Consortium finalizing and signing equity documentation in mutually agreed form within 30 days.

ATOME has secured a 15-year debt financing package on competitive terms. The structure reflects the strong economics of the Villeta project, its contribution to food security, climate action, and job creation, as well as Paraguay’s recently achieved investment-grade sovereign rating. The project’s strategic significance is highlighted by the participation of global development finance institutions, with roughly 25% of the financing provided on concessional terms—substantially lowering the overall cost of capital and enhancing project returns.
