Ballard announces commercial agreement with New Flyer for 50 MW of fuel cell bus engines

VANCOUVER, BC and WINNIPEG, MB, March 10, 2026 /CNW/ — Ballard Power Systems (NASDAQ: BLDP; TSX: BLDP) announced that it has entered into a commercial agreement with New Flyer, a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc. (TSX: NFI), a major provider of sustainable mobility solutions across North America and Europe.

The agreement covers the supply of 500 FCmove®-HD+ fuel cell engines, with a combined capacity of 50 MW, marking the largest single order from New Flyer since the companies began working together. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2026 and the engines will power New Flyer’s Xcelsior CHARGE FC™ hydrogen fuel cell buses operating across North America.

Ballard-powered fleets now include more than 2,200 fuel cell buses worldwide, which together have traveled over 250 million kilometers, maintaining 98% availability and recording no safety incidents. In addition to supplying fuel cell technology, Ballard also provides Fleet Services, such as training, technical support, spare parts, operational monitoring, digital performance insights, and ongoing stack maintenance—helping customers enhance fleet efficiency and maximize operational value.
