A drone featuring a hydrogen-based hybrid propulsion system, developed by Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group, has successfully completed its first flight. The aircraft is characterized by extended flight endurance, low noise levels, and environmental friendliness. Its energy system uniquely combines three power sources—solar, hydrogen, and lithium—for the first time in a low-altitude drone.

During the test, an intelligent landing control algorithm was used, reducing the requirements for takeoff and landing sites and improving performance in complex environments such as forests and mountainous areas. The use of an integrated transport-and-launch container combines transportation and deployment functions, making field operations faster and more convenient.

A key feature of the platform is the integration of solar photovoltaic panels, hydrogen fuel cells, and lithium batteries, which complement each other to optimize energy management. Compared to drones relying on a single power source, the flight endurance has been increased by more than 10%.
