KAMAZ has opened a center for the development of hydrogen technology for 2 billion rubles

During his working trip to Naberezhnye Chelny, First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov opened the Olympus Technopark, which will become a center for the development of components for a new type of transport — powered by hydrogen fuel cells. The federal authorities, Tatarstan and KAMAZ invested over 2 billion rubles in the project, and the customer was JSC Kamsky Industrial Park Master. The Naberezhnye Chelny auto giant has long been supplying Moscow with passenger vehicles powered by electric traction and hydrogen, but so far it uses foreign fuel cells.

According to the press service of the automobile plant, environmentally friendly samples were demonstrated - the KAMAZ—6290 water truck, the KAMAZ-53199 Chistogor on-board electric garbage truck. Recently, experimental KAMAZ accordion engines in an electric version went on flights in Moscow. The automobile plant plans to continue production of passenger vehicles.

The industrial technopark Olympus is located opposite the Scientific and Technical Center of KAMAZ. The Center for Electronics and Batteries of KAMAZ PJSC, which specializes in components for vehicles with hydrogen fuel cells and electric traction, will be located here. He will become a key resident of the technopark. In total, residents are ready to invest 10 billion rubles.

According to the press service of the automobile plant, the project was launched in 2023 with the participation of a subsidiary of the auto giant, Kamsky Industrial Park Master JSC. He ordered the construction and became its owner.
