A consortium of LIFTE H2 GmbH and Resato Hydrogen Technology BV has been selected by Beteiligungsgesellschaft Kreis Düren a subsidiary of the district of Düren in North Rhine-Westphalia, to develop a hydrogen refueling station (HRS) for the region’s expanding fuel cell bus fleet and hydrogen ecosystem. This project will play a key role in enabling the operation of hydrogen fuel cell buses throughout the region.

The consortium was awarded the project scope for Lot 1 – delivering an economically and technically optimal HRS system, which includes the design and delivery of an HRS with hydrogen supply panel, on-site storage, compressor, cooling unit, hydrogen dispensers, and an integrated control and monitoring system. The facility will be implemented in two phases: initially supporting 23 buses, later expanding to accommodate 52 buses. In the first phase, 23 buses can be refuelled in less than a 4-hour shift. At full capacity, the station will provide 1.2 tonnes of hydrogen daily.

LIFTE H2 manages the project, designs the station, and oversees commissioning while Resato Hydrogen Technology supplies the refueling infrastructure equipment and provides short-term maintenance services. The station will incorporate parallel refueling capabilities and an integrated control system.

The project’s second phase, scheduled for completion by Q3 2027, aims to support the region’s growing hydrogen infrastructure needs, ensuring reliable service for the expanding bus fleet while maintaining flexibility for future growth and adaptation.
