At the Angola Oil & Gas conference in Luanda, CWP Global announced its participation in a consortium working on a renewable hydrogen and ammonia project in Angola. The initiative, launched in November 2021, is led by Angolan state energy company Sonangol and German firms Gauff and Conjuncta.

The project will feature up to 600 MW of electrolysers powered by surplus energy from Angola’s existing hydroelectric plants, producing renewable hydrogen and ammonia. The ammonia is expected to be primarily exported to the European market by sea.

In its initial phase, the project aims to produce around 400,000 tons of ammonia annually, with plans for future expansion. Existing port infrastructure and available land will support downstream facilities.
