On September 11, in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone, Deutz AG and Zhongguancun Development Group (ZGC Group) initiated a demonstration project for hydrogen internal combustion engine power generation. This marks the world’s first commercial-scale project using hydrogen internal combustion engines for power generation.
The project’s core technology is the 7.8L hydrogen internal combustion engine developed by Deutz. As a key technology in hydrogen energy applications, the engine offers several advantages, including zero carbon emissions, long service life, the ability to burn industrial by-product hydrogen, quick responsiveness, and high reliability. The equipment stands out in thermal efficiency, emission control, and operational stability, showing strong potential for commercial use. This technology is expected to become a significant option in the new energy sector. According to the project leader, the system could generate up to 1 million kWh annually, with each unit reducing carbon emissions by approximately 800 tons per year.
