Envision Group to build 2GW electrolyser manufacturing capacity in Inner Mongolia
Industry newsEnvision Group is a globally recognized company specializing in renewable energy system solutions and is positioned as a key partner in net zero technology initiatives. With a mission centered around "solving the challenges for a sustainable future," the company is involved in the design, sale, and operation of intelligent wind turbines, advanced energy storage systems, and eco-friendly hydrogen solutions under the brand Envision Energy. Additionally, they offer AIoT-powered batteries through Envision AESC.
In the year 2022, Envision Energy secured an impressive 19.5 gigawatts worth of contracts for wind turbine systems, placing it in the top position in China's rankings. Leading competitors like Mingyang and Gold Wind followed in second and third place. Notably, among these 19.5 gigawatts of contracts, a significant 6.7 gigawatts came from overseas markets, constituting a substantial 82% of China's total manufacturer exports.
Envision Energy has also made substantial strides in the field of hydrogen energy in 2023. On June 6th, they unveiled a groundbreaking agreement to supply 1.67 gigawatts of wind turbines to the NEOM Green Hydrogen Company. This company is behind the world's largest utility-scale hydrogen plant, entirely powered by renewable energy sources. The facility is situated in Oxagon, a region within Saudi Arabia's NEOM initiative. The NEOM Green Hydrogen Company's mission is to produce environmentally friendly hydrogen using exclusively renewable resources such as wind and solar power. Their goal is to generate up to 600 tons of carbon-free hydrogen daily by the conclusion of 2026. This initiative plays a pivotal role in advancing Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 strategy, which aims to reduce carbon emissions while fostering economic growth and job creation.
Furthermore, on August 15th, Envision Energy disclosed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the prominent Canadian Funds Management firm, Brookfield. The purpose of this agreement is to provide wind power and green hydrogen solutions for an upcoming green hydrogen program in Australia.
In another noteworthy development on August 3rd, Envision Energy announced that its solar-wind power-green hydrogen-green ammonia-green methanol project had received approval from the regulatory authority of Inner Mongolia. This extensive project comprises three phases. Phase 1 will involve the construction of facilities capable of producing 100,000 cubic meters per hour of green hydrogen and 300,000 tons of green ammonia. Phase 2 will mirror the products and scale of Phase 1, and Phase 3 will focus on creating 100,000 cubic meters per hour of green hydrogen and 300,000 tons of green methanol. The total investment earmarked for this ambitious endeavor is a substantial 9.8 billion RMB, equivalent to $1.36 billion in US currency, and it is anticipated to be fully operational by the year 2028.
Envision Energy places great importance on its electrolyzer supply capacity as a fundamental pillar of its promising hydrogen business. The establishment of the 2-gigawatt electrolyzer manufacturing facility in Inner Mongolia will elevate the company to the position of the second-largest electrolyzer supplier in China. This ranking is second only to Longi, which presently boasts a 1.5-gigawatt capacity and has plans for expansion to between 5 and 10 gigawatts over the next three years.
