Hydrogen Bus Developed by Citybus Navigates Through the Tunnels

They boarded the hydrogen bus at the West Kowloon Depot and enjoyed a silent, zero-emission ride to Hong Kong Island via the Western Harbour Crossing. After this, the bus started its service on Route 170, attracting many passengers. It traveled through the Aberdeen, Cross-Harbour, and Lion Rock Tunnels, showcasing its capabilities across Hong Kong.
Cliff Zhang stated that Citybus is proud to offer a new hydrogen bus experience to customers in the New Territories and Hong Kong Island. He emphasized the company’s commitment to zero-emission transportation, highlighting their work with government departments over the past three years. Citybus plans to rapidly develop Hong Kong's hydrogen economy with strong government support.
The hydrogen double-deck bus performed well on its initial routes in Kowloon since February. Now, Citybus will test it during the hot summer months for further analysis. The company aims to operate the hydrogen bus regularly on cross-harbour and long-haul routes. Citybus is committed to a full fleet of zero-emission buses by 2045 and is preparing to procure more hydrogen and electric buses.
