On Friday, 25.07.2024 a launch ceremony marked the production of the first electrolyser at Hongze Haijin’s new 1GW factory in Zhangye, Gansu province, northern China. The electrolyser, which uses alkaline technology, can produce 2,500 normal cubic metres (225kg) of hydrogen per hour, as reported by local sources.

The factory, costing ¥120 million ($16.5 million), was built in just 14 months. According to the Zhangye city government, it has an annual capacity of 1GW of electrolysers and 25 sets of green hydrogen electrolysis systems. This indicates that the company plans to ship 40MW modules.
