This compressor will be used in Japan’s inaugural offshore hydrogen station, currently under construction by JPN H2YDRO CO., LTD., to support the Nippon Foundation’s Zero Emission Ships Project, aimed at advancing carbon neutrality in the shipping sector. The offshore station will provide hydrogen for hydrogen-powered vessels, including tugboats with hydrogen co-firing engines.

The VD4-250GH-OL compressor, designed for durability and efficient operation, features advanced technology to ensure stable hydrogen compression with reduced downtime. This model, capable of compressing hydrogen up to 50 MPa at a rate of 100 kg/h, is developed from Mitsui E&S’s extensive experience with high-flow compressors used in petroleum and chemical industries worldwide, along with Kaji Technology Corporation’s expertise in high-pressure hydrogen technology, holding the largest market share for hydrogen stations in Japan.

Notably compact, the VD4-250GH-OL is optimized for high-pressure, high-flow applications, making it suitable for diverse hydrogen transport and supply needs, while also saving space compared to traditional compressors. Mitsui E&S, with a history of producing reciprocating compressors since 1961 and delivering over 1,200 units globally, continues to support decarbonization and recycling goals through its hydrogen and SAF plant compressor technologies.
