In September of last year, the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) completed its first incentive program supporting renewable ammonia production. Seven producers were selected to receive subsidies during the initial three years of a ten-year fixed-price supply agreement. Under this scheme, renewable ammonia will be produced and delivered to existing fertilizer manufacturers across India. While start dates for deliveries had not been specified at the time, the initiative is expected to enable annual production of approximately 724,000 tons nationwide.

In a recent development, SECI has finalized binding Green Ammonia Purchase Agreements (GAPAs) with most of the selected producers. Although the details have not yet been disclosed publicly, each contract includes a defined “Scheduled Commencement of Green Ammonia Supply Date” (SCSD), marking the beginning of commercial deliveries.

ACME Cleantech, which secured six out of the thirteen contracts awarded last September, has signed agreements to supply 370,000 tons of renewable ammonia. Its production will come from multiple facilities, including a planned large-scale project in Gopalpur, Odisha. The ammonia will be supplied to four fertilizer companies: IFFCO, Coromandel International, Paradeep Phosphates, and Indorama. ACME has also indicated plans to expand supply to additional buyers from its Gopalpur project. The total value of its agreements exceeds $2 billion.

Jakson Green, which received one contract to supply Coromandel in Kakinada, has entered into an $465 million agreement covering 85,000 tons of ammonia. The company is developing projects in Rajasthan and at Kandla Port, alongside several other renewable hydrogen initiatives.

SCC Infrastructure, in partnership with InSolare Energy, has also signed a supply agreement with SECI. Their deal covers 85,000 tons per year for two fertilizer producers, with a total value of $398 million. While specific production sites have not yet been confirmed, InSolare is currently advancing a large portfolio of renewable projects across India, including solar, wind, battery storage, and hydrogen, totaling over 1.5 GW.

Additionally, Oriana Power has secured a $334 million contract to supply 60,000 tons of ammonia annually to Madhya Bharat Agro Products. Overall, these agreements now account for ten of the thirteen renewable ammonia contracts awarded in September 2025. One more agreement is expected to be finalized, along with confirmed start dates for supply.
