The first hydrogen testing ground in Russia has started operations on Sakhalin, as announced by Sakhalin Region Governor Valery Limarenko during the inauguration ceremony. He emphasized that Sakhalin is one of three sites in Russia where hydrogen testing grounds are being established. "Today, you will witness the first drop of hydrogen," Limarenko said, adding that humanity is moving towards active use of hydrogen and congratulated everyone on the launch of this significant project.

The launch of the first hydrogen generation at this site will strengthen Russia's position on the international technological map, said Pavel Sorokin, First Deputy Minister of Energy. According to him, the support from the Ministry of Energy will aid the development of such projects, allowing Russia to secure a significant place in global energy and technology sectors.

The site will produce "green" hydrogen using energy from a solar power plant. As part of the project, in collaboration with Sakhalin State University and Bauman Moscow State Technical University, a master's program on hydrogen technologies will be launched. Students will study and develop promising solutions in energy and will test the application of hydrogen in transportation and unmanned devices. The testing ground is also planned to be used for powering small settlements and mobile generators, such as those used by rescue teams, where silent operation of equipment is crucial.
