Shanghai to build one million ton green fuel refueling capacity for maritime sector
Industry newsFor the one million ton green fuel, the policy states 300,000 ton would be produced locally in Shanghai, while the rest would be sourced from other regions such as Taonan and Songyuan city in Jilin province.
Shanghai will prioritize building green fuel production facilities within current chemical complex, according to the document.
The policy underlines biomass as a resource to produce green LNG and green methanol which see anaerobic fermentation and biomass gasification as feasible technology in Shanghai region. The policy also stresses that Shanghai government will support technology innovation to achieve breakthrough in green fuel sector, especially producing methanol from cellulose anaerobic fermentation biogas and biomass gasification, low pressure hydrogenation of carbon dioxide to methanol, large-scale planting of energy crops in tidal flats, as well as normal temperature and atmospheric pressure electrochemical synthesis of ammonia technologies.
