The green hydrogen produced will be injected into the natural gas network of Mallorca at Cas Tresorer.

The Head of the Government, Marga Prohens, visited the Lloseta hydrogen plant this Thursday, which will contribute 300 tons per year for energy use without CO2 emissions. The facility, a pioneer in Spain, will introduce green hydrogen into a natural gas distribution and transportation network for the first time. This infrastructure will allow all renewable hydrogen produced at the plant to be directly injected into the Redexis network at Cas Tresorer.

The Head of the Government was accompanied by the Minister of Business, Employment, and Energy, Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro; the Undersecretary of State for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, Miguel González Suela; and the Mayor of Lloseta, Angelina Pérez, during their visit to the local facilities. They then proceeded to the inauguration of the Cas Tresorer hydrogen pipeline, which is part of the 'Green Hysland' project. The event was also attended by the Mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez, and the CEO of Redexis, Fidel López.

The launch of this green hydrogen production plant, located at the former Cemex factory in Lloseta, required an investment of 50 million euros, with 10 million from European funding, nearly 4 million from the regional government, and additional support from the national government through the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE).

The mixture of green hydrogen and natural gas is the cornerstone of this project, which, in addition to being the first facility of its kind in Spain, is also one of the largest in Europe by capacity. The generation of this energy source will benefit 115,000 homes and 2,000 commercial and industrial consumers, allowing them to use a sustainable and 100% renewable fuel. The gas distributed through this project will enhance industrial competitiveness and help families save money by reducing household energy bills. During the visit, officials observed the injection point into the gas network.
