The President of Uzbekistan launched the construction of “green hydrogen” production plant
Industry newsThe thermal power plant in Syrdarya with a capacity of 1,500 megawatts and a total cost of $1.1 billion will cover the electricity needs of over three million households and hundreds of industrial enterprises, the report says.
Enterprises for the production of “green hydrogen” are being created for the first time in the Tashkent region. As part of this “pilot” project, at the first stage, 3,000 tons of hydrogen will be produced with subsequent processing into mineral fertilizers, and a wind farm with a capacity of 52 megawatts will be created. It was previously reported that the complex will be located in Chirchik on the basis of an existing ammonia production plant.
Today, with the participation of ACWA Power, energy projects worth $7.5 billion are being implemented in Uzbekistan. “The launch of these projects will contribute to the creation of 25 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2030, which will save 4.5 billion cubic meters of gas and reduce the volume of harmful emissions into the atmosphere by up to 3 million tons,” the report notes.
Earlier in the day, the President received a Saudi Arabian delegation led by the kingdom's Investment Minister Khalid al-Falih. During the delegation's visit, agreements were signed on projects in the field of chemistry, energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, IT and infrastructure development worth $12 billion.
