ZeroAvia and ScottishPower have entered into a collaboration aimed at investigating various sustainable models for providing clean power and hydrogen to support aviation and other applications. The agreement, announced on January 10th, 2024, outlines their joint efforts to develop low carbon hydrogen supply specifically tailored for key airport locations, contributing to the broader decarbonization goals of the aviation sector.

The collaboration extends beyond airport hydrogen supply models and financing. ZeroAvia and ScottishPower will also delve into the exploration of clean power needs and the development of hydrogen production infrastructure. This initiative aims to identify potential locations for ZeroAvia sites within ScottishPower's distribution network areas spanning Scotland, North West England, and North Wales.

ScottishPower, with its energy generation operations already boasting 100% renewable sources from UK wind farms, is committed to providing wholly clean energy through green tariffs to both retail and business customers.

ZeroAvia, having recently disclosed a significant 70-engine agreement with Ecojet, headquartered in Scotland and endorsed by environmentalist Dale Vince, is furthering its commitment to sustainable aviation. Additionally, the partnership with AGS Airports, covering Glasgow and Aberdeen, focuses on investigating the hydrogen infrastructure requirements for airports, supporting hydrogen-electric flight, and exploring various potential applications.

The collaboration aligns with the Scottish Government's ambitious target of achieving 5GW of renewable and low carbon hydrogen production by 2030, representing half of the UK Government's broader objective.
